<  Watercolour Floral Painting

This workshop is aimed at people who wish to learn how to paint with Watercolour inks in a gestural and loose style. Taught by textile designers and educators Jules McKeown (Senior Lecturer Textiles at Leeds Arts University) and Debra Roberts (former Principle Lecturer in Textile Design & creative business owner). You will be encouraged to explore new methods and perhaps come out of your comfort zone. Previous experience of Watercolours inks or painting is not essential.  

 

The workshop will discuss tools and materials and demonstrate a number of expressive painterly techniques that you will have the opportunity to trial. This will be a small and friendly workshop that will enable you to discover a passion for painting, or just to seek some down time in a relaxing and creative environment. 

Pattern Play >

This is a design-led workshop aimed at the textile enthusiast or students wishing to expand their creative and practical knowledge of surface pattern design. These workshops are ideal for 1st year textile design students to trial new methodologies and gain confidence in their practice or those with a keen interest in textile design.

 

Taught by Jules and fashion print specialist Anna Newman who has over 20 years in industry working for top High Street brands they encourage you to play with pattern using a variety of creative techniques whilst considering the context and market level you are designing for. Textile fundamentals from refining colour palettes to producing textile repeats by hand are covered. This is an exciting and fast paced workshop that results in quite a large body of work with a wealth of industry tips and tricks thrown in.
